Pioneer Kids & You

How was pioneer life different from life today? Students explore early settler life through hands-on artifacts, historical photographs, and guided discussion — comparing pioneer childhood with their own lives. Optional activities include roleplay and a buttermaking demonstration.

Pioneer Life & You

When Henry Flagler extended his railroad into South Florida in 1895, it sparked the transformation of an untamed frontier into a developing community. This inquiry-based field trip challenges students to think like historians — analyzing maps, photographs, and artifacts to explore railroads, migration, and environmental challenges of early Boca Raton. Students evaluate primary and secondary sources, examine pioneer daily life, and draw evidence-based conclusions about how the past shaped the present.

WWII on the Homefront

The small farming town of Boca Raton was completely transformed between 1942 and 1945 when it hosted over one hundred thousand servicemen and women at the Boca Raton Army Air Field. Students explore the local military base, radar operations, civilian life, and community support for the war effort. An optional hands-on rationing simulation brings the home front experience to life.

Time Travelers: Boca Through the Decades

Step into the past and explore the people, places, and events that shaped Boca Raton. Students rotate through immersive, decade-based stations representing different eras of local history — engaging with artifacts, roleplay, and problem-solving challenges. From the pioneer era to the modern city, students discover how life in Boca Raton changed over time and build connections between local history and their own community.
