Addison Mizner

Explore the life, vision, and lasting influence of architect Addison Mizner, the man who transformed Boca Raton from a small farming community into one of Florida’s most ambitious resort developments of the 1920s. Through original furnishings, architectural elements, photographs, artwork, and decorative objects from Mizner Industries, this exhibit showcases the distinctive Mediterranean Revival style that became synonymous with South Florida and Mizner’s legacy.

Visitors will discover the story behind Mizner’s grand plans for Boca Raton, the creation of the Cloister Inn, his innovative workshops and pottery studios, and the enduring architectural legacy that continues to define the city’s character today.

The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum is home to the Boca Raton Historical Society’s History Alive! exhibits, which shares the story of Boca Raton. In addition to these permanent exhibits, rotating temporary exhibits are on display.
